Most people have heard of the fairy chimneys and the open air museums, but this tour allows one to visit the lesser known attractions that Cappadocia has to offer. Your first stop will be Love Valley panorama where you will be informed of the geological history of the region while overlooking the phallic-shaped rocks that lay below. We visit Avanos, the place famous for the 3000 year old tradition of Hittite Pottery, where you will be able to try your hand at the art itself. Özkonak is the next stop, home to one of the lesser known underground cities. This underground city, even though smaller was more advanced, having its own communication and defence systems. This tour includes a local lunch. After lunch you will visit the wonders of Gülşehir. St. Jeans Church dating back to 1212 is a double story church offering some of the rarest, best preserved frescoes in Cappadocia. Afterward visit Açıksaray (Open Palace), built around the 10th or 11th century this 1km square site is a deserted cave village. You will take a walk through the large area consisting of eight complexes, coming off three main courtyards where you will marvel at each of the elaborate facades. You can also visit the Mushroom Rock, along with other unusual rock formations.
